South Carolina Mental Health State Planning Council 

The Mental Health State Planning Council membership reflects the mental health stakeholder community, including adults with serious mental illness, family members of adults with mental illness or families of children with emotional disturbance, public and private community-based providers, advocacy organizations, and state agency representatives.    

The purpose of the council is to review the state Mental Health Block Grant (MHBG) application and make recommendations; serve as an advocate for adults with a serious mental illness, children with a severe emotional disturbance (SED), and other individuals with mental illnesses; and monitor, review, and evaluate, not less than once a year, the allocation and adequacy of mental health services within the state.   

Notice is hereby given that the South Carolina Mental Health State Planning Council will convene its 2025 meetings on the following dates:

    • January 15, 2025
    • March 19, 2025
    • May 21, 2025
    • July 16, 2025
    • September 24, 2025
    • November 19, 2025

Meetings will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Room 323 of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) Office of Mental Health Administration Building, located at 2414 Bull Street, Columbia, South Carolina. Please note the location will change following the move of BHDD Office of Mental Health to their new building in 2025.
