Community Integration Services

People with mental disabilities have the same dreams as we all do. They want to live in their own homes, spend time with family and friends, find meaningful work, and enjoy the pleasures of being part of a community. Pee Dee Mental Health supports the concept of recovery – a way of living a satisfying, hopeful, and contributing life even with limitations that may be caused by mental illness. Recovery is a personal and unique process for each person, but at its core are the components of hope, empowerment, support, self-help, and meaningful activity, among others. Our community integration services strive to provide the resources and support to assist our patients in their growth and improvement in the areas of health (managing one’s illness and making informed choices that support physical and emotional well-being), home (having a stable and safe place to live), purpose (conducting meaningful daily activities such as a job or volunteering), and community (having relationships and social networks that provide support, friendship, hope, and love).

Programs & Services

PBHDD Office of Mental HealthC provides counseling and psychiatric services to families and to those children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional, relational, and/or behavioral problems. Our goal is to help children and their families reduce behavior and problems that may lead to interference or dissolution of the community/ home placement or the disruption in school attendance and performance. Family participation is encouraged and is felt to be an essential component of treatment and recovery. Our clinicians also work cooperatively with the schools and other involved community agencies as needed. Services may be provided at a center office, in the child’s school setting, and/or in the home. Specialized intensive treatment services may be offered if indicated.

At the beginning of your treatment and at intervals throughout your course of treatment, you and your clinician will discuss your reasons for seeking assistance and the changes you would like to see in your life. The assessment will cover many areas of your life and background so that the clinician can assess which services will best meet your needs. Your clinician will work cooperatively with you to develop your treatment plan and to choose the array of services that will be best suited to you.
