In September of 2022, South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (SCLEA) approved State accreditation to the BHDD Office of Mental Health Division of Public Safety for a period of three years. Because Public Safety received a four-year re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) in July of 2022, the division is now “dual-certified”, a truly significant and impressive achievement. In his letter to the Division announcing the Council’s approval, SCLEA Chairman John Tucker wrote, “State Accreditation represents a strong commitment to professional excellence. The work displayed by your agency in achieving this prestigious award is indicative of strong leadership and strict adherence to standards.”
